Our mission is to promote the teachings of Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate as taught by Miyagi Sensei and Miyazato Sensei. We are dedicated to passing on the traditional knowledge that we have been taught. Our dojo seeks to share the traditional exercises, katas, and techniques with people interested in learning the martial arts. We strive to teach the art and also self-defense at the same time. Our focus is on helping people become stronger, healthier, more confident and more helpful to the community.
The head instructor, Yurio Nakada, has been teaching Goju-Ryu Karate in Anchorage since 1968. His senior instructors have been practicing with him since the 1970s. Our school is a non-profit, volunteer organization with a very low student to instructor ratio dedicated to helping the community by teaching individuals and groups the benefits of practicing GoJu Karate. We have a strong core group of instructors that offer a high level of instruction in traditional and sport Karate. Our goal is to help individuals achieve their potential both physically and mentally.
